Garden Walk 07.27.2020

Ok, let's garden walk... I went on my garden walk in between rain showers and I found all the bees hiding in the sunflowers, not even moving, just huddled up avoiding the raindrops. First heirloom getting some color!  This is a purple variety so it will stay darker. The San Marzano tomatoes have gone straight up wild.  They are a jumbled mess with the zinnia and at this point, I am just letting them do their thing. Because they are branching out in giant clusters like this one.  Have at it babies! Sometimes these pictures are more for me than you.  This gaillardia and snapdragon isn't at its best but I need to remember to plant them together next year too. Same here - these are bachelor buttons and next year I need to plant some poppies with them, the colors will be so pretty. The winter squash is about to take over the back yard.  It has trellised it's fingers out into the sunfl...

Larive Potager

New blog! Soooooo.... I haven't done any blogging of any kind recently... because I have been spending all the daylight minutes in my garden. And then falling asleep five minutes after my kids. What I HAVE been doing is taking tons of garden pictures and annoying everyone I know on social media with them all. So I am just going to combine my love of writing and my garden into one. Voile! Larive Potager. I played with garden names for a bit. I call it a hundred different generic things all the time, but that doesn't really translate well to a blog. I wanted something personal. So I settled on 'potager'. Potager is a French word for a type of kitchen garden. My vision for what I am trying to create here aligns with a typical potager. They are grown upwards frequently, grown with food and herbs for cooking and preserving. They are a pretty mix of food and flower and herb. They are close to the house, meant to be wandered through while grabbing ingredients...
